2015 NPW Activities

 

        

Georgia Public Broadcasting will celebrate Sesame Street’s 45th Anniversary on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the GPB.  They have 50 volunteer positions available for this event.

 

Date: Saturday, September 26
Shift time:  8:00AM to 5:00PM
Event Location: GPB, 260 14th Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
Volunteer Check In: Volunteers will meet in GPB Lobby at 8:00AM.  Pre event meeting will begin promptly at 8:00AM
Assignments: Area set up, greeting families, helping with activities, break down
Dress code: Comfortable clothes and shoes, wear your GPB or Sesame Street shirt if you have one
Lunch: Lunch and snacks will be provided for volunteers

We have a very special opportunity for phone bank volunteers on Sunday, September 20, 2015 - 11:30AM to 6:00PM.

We will be Live in the GPB Studio for a targeted membership campaign in collaboration with the TV airing of American Experience: Walt Disney!

    

During our membership campaigns volunteers play an integral role in GPB’s success by answering phone calls and taking pledges from our television viewers.  This is a great opportunity to support public broadcasting programming and services.   And…it’s a fun way to be a volunteer in our community.

The Aurora Theatre has partnered with Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and adopted a stretch of highway to keep clean. They are in need of volunteers to sign up for September 7th from 9:30am-12:00pm in an effort to keep our community beautiful. While you do not have to stay the whole time, every minute you do helps keep our Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful!

They will meet at Walgreens on the corner of Sugarloaf Parkway and Lawrenceville Highway (1556 Lawrenceville Hwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30044).

Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful will provide vests and bags. Come dressed for the weather, in comfortable shoes and bring gloves to collect debris.

 


 

On various days, we can participate in the builds with Habitat for Humanity.  Stay tuned to your emails for availabe dates & locations to sign up to volunteer & details.

 


 

They have added a new volunteer shift opportunity available on Saturday, August 1st 4:30PM to 9:30PM (2nd shift for this day) for our August TV Membership Campaign.  If you can go, email Stacey so she can let them know.  Be sure to wear your NPW Shirt!

On August 8th, we can participate in the sorting of the donated school supplies and the stuffing of the book bags.  Please consider attending & bringing your family to participate in the sort.  You may come any time between 10am and 4pm.

What - We will be helping sort school supplies and stuff book bags.

   


 

 

On August 9th, CRN will hold its Back 2 School Day of Readiness event where they expect 1,000 homeless kids to attend. There will be health, sports, and cheer-leading physicals, eye exams, and dental screenings. There will be entertainment, haircuts, dancing, popcorn and sno cones, jumping moons, and an endless BBQ buffet. At the end of the day they will pass out the new book bags filled with all necessary school supplies. You can come at any time to this event and at the check in table sign in to help with what area you are interested in.  Please consider bringing your family to this event as well.

 Drive

The Atlanta Chapter of the APA will be accepting School Supply Donations at the August Chapter Dinner Meeting.  Please bring your donations and help out children in need.  All donations will be taken to the Atlanta Food Bank for distribution.  Some supplies needed are pencils, crayons, note books, composition paper, and backpacks.  Most Walmarts, Targets, and Family Dollar Stores have lists available.
